YOUR HOME'S HEALTH

Indoor Air Quality & Health Protection

Your HVAC system directly impacts the air you breathe every day. Poorly maintained equipment can circulate allergens, mold spores, CO, and other contaminants throughout your home. We help you stay protected.

SmileHVAC technicians are trained to identify air quality risks during every service visit and recommend solutions that keep your family breathing clean, safe air year-round.

We Check For

  • Carbon Monoxide (CO) leaks from furnaces & heat exchangers
  • Mold & mildew growth in ductwork and coils
  • Refrigerant leaks that affect air quality
  • Clogged filters causing poor air circulation
  • Combustion safety on all gas appliances
  • Proper ventilation & fresh air exchange

ON EVERY SERVICE CALL

Our Technician Safety Protocols

When a SmileHVAC technician arrives at your home or business, these are the steps we follow — every single time.

1

Assessment on Arrival

Our technician evaluates the work area for potential hazards before opening any tool bag or panel.

2

Lockout / Tagout Procedures

Electrical and mechanical energy is safely isolated (LOTO) before any maintenance or repair begins.

3

PPE & Clean-Work Practices

Gloves, eye protection, and appropriate respiratory gear are worn. We respect your home — drop cloths and boot covers always used.

4

CO & Gas Leak Testing

We carry calibrated detectors to test for carbon monoxide and gas leaks on every furnace and boiler job.

5

Post-Work Inspection

Before leaving, every technician conducts a final safety check and walks the customer through the work completed.

6

Safe Refrigerant Handling

All refrigerants are handled per EPA and TSSA regulations — no venting, proper reclamation and disposal every time.

Safety FAQs

How do I know if my furnace has a carbon monoxide leak?

CO is colourless and odourless — you cannot detect it without a detector. Symptoms of exposure include headaches, dizziness, and nausea. We strongly recommend a CO detector on every floor of your home. Our technicians test for CO on every furnace service call.

How often should I change my HVAC filter for good air quality?

Standard 1-inch filters should be changed every 1–3 months. Homes with pets, allergies, or high occupancy benefit from more frequent changes. High-efficiency media filters (4–5 inch) typically last 6–12 months. Our technicians will advise you on the best schedule for your system.

What should I do if I smell gas in my home?

Do not switch any lights or appliances on or off. Leave the building immediately, leaving the door open. Call 911 and your gas utility from outside. Do not re-enter until emergency services have cleared the building. Then call us for an emergency inspection.

Does SmileHVAC clean up after a service visit?

Absolutely. Our technicians use drop cloths and boot covers throughout your home and leave the work area clean. We take our mess with us — every time.
